Our Verdict:
Priced slightly higher than the entry-level Schwinn 430, the 438 model comes with a larger footprint that offers more stability during workouts. The 18-inch fixed stride can be a limitation to the taller users but is a welcome feature to the average users who want consistency in their leg workouts. The Schwinn 438 really delivers with its wide selection of 21 different workout programs, including 4 custom and 10 profile courses plus time trials, a fitness test and a manual option. It is a welcome feature for those who have trouble sticking to a repetitive workout. The handlebars offer three different grip positions so everyone can simply do some adjustments and find the position that suits them best. If you are searching for an elliptical that can cater to a variety of users, this is one home gym equipment the entire family can surely enjoy. |

Customer Feedback-
"As to the elliptical, it is much more solid than most of the consumer-grade junk (such as ProForm). This is not a professional grade model and you will notice that it is not as solidly built nor as heavy as a Precor. But the elliptical is very tough and well-made and even though mine has taken a beating it still works fine." - Actual User Review - Amazon.com "I bought this item for my home because going to the gym was becoming a hassle with 3 kids in diapers. Anyways, I was used to using the 'gym quality' machines, however, the craftsmanship of this machine far exceeds anything I expected. You get a wonderful workout, it is very quiet, sturdy and seems to take a lot of abuse well (my husband exercises aggressively and he likes it as well, no complaints)." - Actual User Review - Amazon.com "Having been use to a gym quality Precor at my gym with a rear flywheel I had questions about a front fly wheel model. However the 438 has articulating foot plates that make the motion almost as natural as a rear fly wheel model. This is a great piece of equipment for the home gym without having to spend many thousands of dollars, well worth the little premium over a basic retail sports store machine." - Actual User Review - Amazon.com "The workout is great. I love that it keeps track of all my workouts and can give me a summary of how many times I've used it, etc. I am out of shape, so I'm not sure how it would work for someone in shape, but I haven't gotten beyond the first few levels and I get great workouts, so there is plenty of room for improvement. I love the preset workouts, just like the gym machines." - Actual User Review - Amazon.com |
