About The Product:

The Schwinn 460 Variable Stride Elliptical Trainer is the latest innovation in low impact cardio training with its introduction of revolutionary features into home elliptical machines.  Elliptical users have long wished that the stride lengths would conform to their varying needs, which were not available with the fixed 18-inch stride on most elliptical machines.

The Schwinn 460 V-Stride technology allows the user to adjust stride lengths without any manual adjustments and program strides from a short 2 inches to as much as 28 inches.  So users can emulate low difficulty workouts such as walking up the steps to more intense workout replications such as a real run or wall climbing.

Everything innovative comes with this well-upgraded Schwinn trainer, which allows you to maximize workouts with just one machine. It comes with 16 workout programs including 11 distinct exercise profiles to target the specific areas you want to concentrate on. Its high technology design tracks your results and receives programming inputs for two separate users.  Handlebar grips come with the usual heart rate sensor but this revolutionary trainer adds the extras of heart rate telemetry with a chest strap. Other convenient features include a touch screen backlit LCD display console, an adjustable cooling fan, an over-sized bottle holder, over-sized footpads and a magazine rack. It also comes with transport handles and wheels for easy transport.

Our Verdict:

The recent years have seen the evolution of a variety of new machines in the elliptical industry and trainers are consistently developed to do more that the standard elliptical exercise motion. Since its introduction to the home gym equipment market, elliptical users have commented on the limitations of a fixed-stride elliptical and their ability to work out different lower body muscle groups. The Schwinn 460 Variable Stride Trainer comes as the answer to this pressing need among elliptical users. With its adjustable stride lengths, users are now able to switch between low-difficulty workouts to high intensity training without many modifications during the exercise routine.  Users can opt for short strides to work on the calves and quads, medium strides to target the thighs, and long strives to engage all muscle groups.

The Schwinn 460 is a great buy for an elliptical at still under $1000. It accommodates users of various heights, arm reach and leg lengths and works best at toning more muscle groups and maximizing your home workout.

Customer Feedback-

"There is now a new successor in home fitness equipment. This is it! Whenever someone thinks outside of the box and creates a new machine to appeal to more people, they create a winning product that will set the standard. Schwinn/Nautilus and their engineers/experts have done it with the Schwinn 460 Variable Strike Elliptical Trainer."

"Overall I am very happy with this elliptical and consider it to be just as effective as the $4000 elliptical at my health club. I am 6' 1" and my girlfriend is 5' 4" and we both felt very comfortable with the feel of the machine. The stroke feels very ergonomic and it is great operating in a forward and backward motion which is very helpful when you get real tired, you can take a mini break by walking backwards for a minute or two while still working your muscles and keeping your heart rate up."

"
One thing I thought was pretty cool is that during a workout it will occasionally tell you Good Job! I know you're probably thinking "so what?" but you'd be surprised what it does to your motivation. It's like there's a little personal trainer in there cheering you on."

"Schwinn 460 Variable Stride Elliptical Trainer is good for even the shortest member of the family. Previously, it'd been funny watching someone shorter than you struggle on the elliptical machine's fixed stride length, you can forget that from now on, and concentrate on your work out and they can work out, too on the same machine..
